Joshua Tree Inspired Outdoor Lifestyle Apparel by Afield Out
Outdoors apparel and accessories inspired by 90s design aesthetic and iconic desert boulders of JT
One’s personal style has and likely will always be the surest way to announce to the world who you are. Whether we’d like to admit it or not, every one of us constantly observing and categorizing everyone we meet, all day long—are you a banker bro, tech bro, skater boy, hypebeast, extra-regular dude with no discernible style? The point is, if you identity as an outdoorist, the REI’s of the world leave little to tell your neighbor so aside from zip-off cargo shorts and neon colored windbreakers.
Afield Out, an independent apparel brand from Santa Ana, CA routinely does well to subvert these norms and other outdoor industry clichés with nature-inspired, design-conscious gear. The latest SS19 collection of T-shirts, hoodies, outerwear, and accessories—all drawing on black and taupe coloring inspired by iconic Joshua Tree boulders, with some subtle 90s design undertones too—continues to back this up.
Each piece in the subtle collection deserves a look, but for us a few stand out above the rest. Specifically, the crewneck sweater with large back graphic, canvas firewood tote, and Mojave longsleeve T-shirt. Nothing too technical—which, believe it or not, is OK—just well thought out designs screened to quality cotton at an approachable price. I’m down.
