Topo Designs is collab happy these days. And that’s alright with us, so long as each announcement brings with it more high quality iterations on timeless designs, as was the case with Oru Kayak and Woolrich. The latest to hit the market is a collaboration with centuries-old knife maker Opinel (who recently collaborated with L.L. Bean, for good measure), out today.

The Topo Designs x Opinel No8 knife is a two part project, with a classic made in France folding knife and American-made carrying case. It brings together the old and the new with surprising seamlessness.

The knife itself will be produced in a limited run of just 500, each with its unique number etched into the 8.5cm titanium nitride coated stainless steel blade. The natural wood handle features a Topo-specific red strip print update. And in typical Topo fashion the case is crafted of durable ripstop nylon with a Cordura pack cloth liner, and made big enough to stash both your new knife and a bit of walking around money.

This one is as simple as can be, with some serious history, and we’re digging it.
