There's just something about classic military outerwear that speaks to us. The utilitarian designs often seem the perfect blend of form and function, with no frills yet plenty of style. Alpha Industries is the leader in reproduction mil spec outerwear and apparel, and they've recently teamed up with San Francisco-based contemporary menswear label Taylor Stitch. The result is a two-piece capsule re-visioning two iconic military silhouettes—the M-51 Field Jacket and ALS/92 Field Jacket Liner
Though originally designed as a liner, the ALS/92 has taken on a life of its own in recent decades as one of the most recognizable outer garments of its kind. The iconic wave quilt pattern, contrasting piping, and distinct patch pockets make it somehow both eye catching and subdued at the same time.
The Taylor Stitch x Alpha Industries ALS/92 Liner ($238) rework sees a 100% recycled nylon shell paired with recycled polyester fill, organic cotton facing, and recycled poly cuffs. It's lightweight, warm, and cool as hell. And of course, it can be buttoned into the other piece in the collection—the M-51 Field Jacket.
