Snow is falling in the mountains so let's face it: it's time to think about winter. At Field Mag, that means ski gear. Raide might be the most interesting brand in snow softgoods right now. Maybe you're familiar with the Carbondale upstart through running, but the company launched with a backpack for backcountry skiing and snowboarding. Like its running belt, the LF reimagined what a ski pack could be down to every component and revealed the brand's no-compromise design ethos.
Now, heading into the oncoming super El Niño winter, Raide is revealing its largest collection to date. The highlights are all superlative: down layers with the highest warmth-to-weight ratio on the market, the lightest ski pack with back panel access, the lightest down mittens. And more on top of that.
The collection's overarching theme is exposure. In a webinar the other week, Raide's founder, Kyle Siegel, explained what that means: "Every time you ski or run something that scares you, gets you uncomfortable, that's when growth happens," Siegel said during the webinar. "So that's what we're trying to bring to life. Giving people these tools to withstand that exposure and go chase that progression and that growth."
