Rapha changed the game for cycling, bringing the centuries-old activity into the modern world. In recent years countless newcomers to the market—MAAP, POC, Search and State, to name a few—have continued this bold, design-driven approach to cycling apparel and equipment. Also among this group is Copenhagen’s Pas Normal Studios, a forward-thinking cycling lifestyle brand driven by the single goal “to create technically perfect apparel, combined with visionary aesthetic.” And they do.
But why are we looking at photos of crazy aggressive hiking boots if we’re talking about a cycling brand? Well, that’s the beauty of PNS—one of their more interesting collections, dubbed, “Off-Race,” features apparel and gear for life out of the saddle. And the Pas Normal Studios x Diemme collaboration boots are the latest product to pop up in that category
Designed by Pas Normal Studios and produced by hand in Italy by legendary bookmaker Diemme, the Everest and the Roccia Vet are two new footwear options created for tackling every terrain from technical hikes to cobble stone streets.
Distinct in appearance and functional in design, the Everest is an absolute stand out. Rubberized sidewalls, waterproof woven uppers, a sizable rubber sole, and reflective laces—this boot is no joke. Massive side branding is also very much a vibe, albeit a potentially plagiarius one.
Taking a more traditional approach is the Roccia Vet, an existing style now updated with lighter weight materials and a more comfortable sole, indicating it’s meant more for city streets than muddy trails (though no doubt it’d handle it’s own there too). The two-tone colorway blends soft suede with rubberized sidewalls for increased comfort and durability. Plenty of ankle support is a given.
With limited numbers available, we wouldn’t recommend waiting till the holidays to pick up a pair for yourself.
