The historic Midwest retreat takes cabin lovers “Into the Woods” with a new collection of home goods designed from century-old summer camp ephemera

Design trends come and go. Some, but not all, have staying power. Many seem to cycle through popular design culture once a decade or so, while others, such as the sophisticated and pared-back aesthetic of mid-century modern design, are emblematic of timeless style and quality that is always relevant. Another example immune to passing fads: the classic American camp and all its kitsch, which always comes accompanied by a patina of nostalgia and warmth.

The style is on full display at Camp Wandawega, a Midwestern lakeside retreat that hosts visitors and creatives deep in the Wisconsin woods, but calling its style simply nostalgic would miss the mark. The modern resort preserves the original feel of its cabin architecture and interior designs so well that it appears time stood still; you won't find any of the cheesiness of an off-mark remake here. And now, Wandawega has parlayed its rich camp history into a collection of outdoor-inspired home goods called Into the Woods for cabin lovers who want bring a piece of the century-old summer camp into their homes.

The line consists of eight pieces “designed to layer easily and wear well over time” with an emphasis on utility to reflect the practical side of camp goods. Inspired by Wandawega’s archive of lodge "artifacts," as they call them, each gives an authentic feel that isn’t just a nod to the past but a direct reference to the color stories, textiles, and motifs rooted in their heritage Americana camp style.

The collection includes the Sycamore Blanket ($39), a woven wool plaid throw finished with fringe in a deep orange reminiscent of mid-century lodge blankets that's ideal for staying cozy by a fire. For lounging outside, the Scout Outdoor Blanket ($39) features a durable quilted construction designed to handle damp ground and changing conditions, and it rolls into an included carry bag.

Evocative of a camp bunkroom, The Sportsmen’s Quilt Set ($99-139) has a classic quilted construction with a graphic hunting motif sourced from vintage textiles and a rust-toned reverse side that comes with matching pillow shams.

The Lodge Hook Rug ($79) employs a traditional hooked textile technique to craft dense, textured loops on its bold plaid design that’s not hard to imagine layered over a well-worn wood cabin floor. And no lodge is complete without a medley of multicolored pillows tossed onto armchairs and patterned sofas. For that, Wandawega supplied four graphic pillows, The Elk Needle-Punch Pillow ($69), The Pointer Chainstitched Pillow ($59), The Hunting Dog Needlepoint Pillow ($89), and The Wood Duck Hook Pillow ($59), which draw their designs from field guides, sporting illustrations, and other vintage prints sourced directly from the retreat’s grounds.

You can view the collection on their website, which launches nationally 19 February, and is available now from Amazon, Wayfair, and Bed, Bath & Beyond.
