When you see Topo Designs in a headline it’s safe to assume the Fort Collins, Colorado-based brand has another new collaboration to introduce. Not the case here. This time, they’ve added a few new layering pieces to their core apparel line, just in time for the fall season to fully take effect. Highlights of the new FW15 drop included the Puffer Cardigan, an insulated, mock-collar mid layer, and the Field Jacket, a canvas coat inspired by classic Military designs. Both are cut and sewn in the USA, as we’ve come to expect from Topo.

The Puffer Cardigan is made of lightweight ripstop nylon with 60g Primaloft insulation, making it extremely lightweight and packable, not to mention wind resistant. Snap closure buttons and a handy chest pocket round out the refined design. These details alone earn this jacket a permanent place in our travel and camp kit this season (and likely a go-to for particular brisk city days too).

What can we say, we’re suckers for a canvas chore jacket, especially one with a trim fit, and pockets all the way around the body. Drawing inspiration from mountain life and military design, the Field Jacket is made of a midweight ripstop cotton canvas and swaps a zipper for snap clasps, with additional snaps at the cuff and on front pockets too. That’s about it—this design is as simple as that, and we’re thankful for it.

the Puffer Cardigan and Field Jacket sell for $229 and $169, respectively. For a refresher on Topo Designs check our Q&A with founder Jedd Rose
