So much of what we see in fashion and outdoor gear collaborations these days amounts to little more than a series of cosmetic one-offs: a shift in colors, swapping a few materials, and the dreaded two-logo swap treatment. Not here though. When the sustainably-focused and design-forward Swedish sportswear brand Houdini teamed with Rocky Mountain-based backpack pioneers Osprey, the two set out to design something brand new: a fresh backpack for all of the pursuits one could chase in the mountains.

Named Allt, after the Swedish word for “everything,” the four-season pack designed by both Osprey and Houdini product teams outfits ski tourers, climbers, and hikers with a single 30-liter bag to take on a full calendar of outings and alpine adventures. Also available in a smaller 20-liter iteration, the Allt retains many of the design features of its big brother, in a more everyday carry-friendly volume.

Below, we speak with both brands' design teams to gain some exclusive insight into the highly anticipated collaboration.

Created through a process that brought in brand athletes to develop early-stage ideas and field testing builds, the Allt backpack features all the bells and whistles to manage climbing ropes, ice tools, and skis—all dutifully executed by Osprey’s technical pack design know-how. Exclusive to the 30-liter version, we find a unique closure system comprising an external cinch to hold a helmet, followed by an internal roll top closure to protect cargo inside. For backcountry ski trips, an internal padded sleeve comfortably stows an avalanche shovel and probe.

One might wonder how an American backpack brand and a fashionable Swedish outdoor apparel brand come together for such a project, but the answer is almost as simple as “it’s a small world.” Houdini Chief Product Officer Jesper Danielsson begins by telling us, “Friendships were forged over decades in the outdoor industry, shared values regarding corporate responsibility, and the passion for product design and life outdoors.”

“Jesper would call me up during my mornings," recounts Osprey Packs Designer Austin Kiefer. "We would discuss Allt design details and athlete feedback, but also our philosophies of design, dreams of what the future of sustainability could look like.”

While Osprey guided the pack’s wear comfort and ability to carry alpine gear, Houdini’s expertise in circular product design informed the Allt’s sustainable approach. Fabric, webbing, cord, and foam throughout the Allt are made from 100% polyester to facilitate easy repairs to keep the pack going for as long as possible and a straightforward recycling process when it's seen its last switchback. Continuing with the collaborative approach, both brands will accept the pack for recycling once users decide it's no longer fit for their adventures..

The Allt backpack will also become the only pack in Houdini’s product line, which is characterized by technical, minimalist sportswear that often comes in somber solids. While we received no definitive answer about the next collaboration between Houdini and Osprey, we won’t be too surprised if and when the aligned brands have some more news to share with us later down the line.

The Osprey x Houdini Allt Backpack is available from 6 November 2025 from both Houdini and Osprey.
