Hikerkind Introduces Down Jacket & Hiking Pants in FW24 Collection

Since launch in 2021, women-led technical outdoor apparel brand Hikerkind has held our attention and admiration with seasonal micro releases of thoughtfully and beautifully designed hiking basics, including midlayers, skorts, tights, and shorts. Outerwear has always been part of the plan for founders Allison Levy and Chelsea Rizzo. And now, after years of vetting fabrics and fits, the time has finally come. The Hikerkind Fall/Winter 2024 Collection is now live and it does not disappoint.

The four-piece collection includes two pinnacle pieces and two future classics. Stealing the show is the Packable Down Puffer 01 and 8 Pocket Pants 01. The former is a 600 to 800 Responsible Down Standard goose fill technical shell that’s water resistant, features two deep stash pockets and two hand pockets, and packs down into a travel pillow. But with the tailored collar and stowable insulated hood, it’s chic and at home in town and on the trail.

The second standout is the 8 Pocket Pants 01 featuring a high-rise fit, loose but tapered silhouette, and two-way stretch material with plant-based water repellency. The eight—yes, eight!—patch pockets are as functional as they are of the moment.

Adding to Hikerkind’s already robust layering suite, the new Ribbed Merino Polo 01 and the Ribbed Merino Turtleneck 01 are made of an ultra-soft, anti-pill merino wool. All combined, the colors are in Hikerkind’s signature earthy and muted palette, from Morel and Woad to Kyanite and Dune.

“We’ve pushed the boundaries with FW ’24, ensuring that every piece in the collection is as durable as it is beautiful,” Rizzo tells Field Mag. “Whether you’re out on the trail or navigating the city, our gear is made to move with you, providing comfort and performance without compromising on style.”

The two former fashion stylists spent years testing fabrics to find materials that are both durable and timeless, like the abrasion-resistant ribbed merino and the reinforced pants. Every piece is designed to function on multi-day hikes in the backcountry as well as long days in the city and subway commutes. It’s easy to want to wear Hikerkind off the trail as much as on it, since the silhouettes are sensible, versatile, and stylish.

Building on Hikerkind's community efforts—the brand hosts season hike clubs in multiple cities across the country—their recenlty launched membership offers their most aligned followers discounts, free shipping without minimums, exclusive content, and first dibs on new releases. As such, members received early access to this drop, but as of 24 September 2024, the FW24 collection is now available to all online. Prices range from $98 to $348.
