John Cardiel is a legend. In the 90s he was a legendary pro snowboarder, then he became a legendary pro skateboarder, and then after getting literally run over by a truck and sustaining a serious spinal cord injury that let him unable to walk in 2004 he became an urban bike legend, turning to two wheels to channel his characteristic energy and enthusiasm. Why are we telling you this? Because he’s the man at the center of this new Chrome x Antihero Skateboards collaboration.

Now, we don’t usually cover skateboarding (better to keep our passions passions, and not part of the job) but when Cardiel comes up, we pay attention. And Antihero is just about the raddest brand out now that every teenager and their mom wears Thrasher. Plus Chrome is OG in its own right too. So here we are.

The adventure-inspired collection centers around a sizable 33L Chrome backpack made of Mil-Spec 1050D nylon with a 10 oz weatherproof liner, waterproof urethane YKK zippers, a luxe leather bottom, and paracord zipper pulls, and all made in California.

Along with the pack is a limited-edition Antihero deck featuring “wilderness” inspired art, a classic crewneck, two T-shirts, and a bandana. Watch the Chrome x Antihero video to see the full kit, and John, in action.
