If you've been snooping around The Field for a while now you may have noticed we're low-key Tanner Goods stans. The Portland-based brand began making leather goods, but recent years have seen a shift towards the holistic lifestyle space, and if you ask us, it’s a smart one. With their menswear shop The Woodlands, close ties with ceramic vessel makers Mazama, and newly introduced line of homewares, their quickly becoming a one-stop shop. Thankfully the core bag and accessory line is still a main focus, and regularly sees updates. Which brings us here, to the updated Salt and Pepper collection, now available in black—our favorite color ;)

The new collection outfits the entire Tanner Goods bag line in a handsome triple black combination of Meridian English Bridle, in-house machined hardware, and hardwearing Swiss military spec salt and pepper canvas. Of the group, we’re drawn most to three stands: the Voyager Daypack, Wilderness Rucksack, and Everyday Tote. The first is new, and perfect for around town excursions, day hikes, long weekends away, etc. The minimalist, drawstring top loader is perfectly familiar in design and seamless in use.

Next up is the Wilderness Rucksack, a longstanding standout. Though a bit too big for daily use, the utilitarian rolltop design makes it the workhorse of the collection and worthy of some serious wear. And then we have the Everyday Tote. The boxy form isn’t simply an aesthetic choice—it’s the perfect dimensions for hauling vinyl. If you’re not a record head, you can still but your groceries and lunch and other less fun stuff in there too. And of course, each and every bag is made under one roof by hand in Portland, Oregon.

Ok we’re done. Peep the collection yourself, available exclusively from TG online and in their three brick and mortar shops.
