Though we’re more likely to wear jeans and a T than a full spandex kit when pedaling around town, we absolutely appreciate proper cycling apparel for when the occasion calls for it. We back the urban design vibe at Giro, and the Scandinavian simplicity of POC, but there’s just something so perfect about the vintage-inspired design of Japan’s PEdAL ED. Since 2007 the Tokyo-based brand has been making some of the finest, and most attractive apparel for cyclists with the belief that each feature of a garment can improve function and performance, not simply aesthetics. And now that they’ve teamed up to produce part of their line in Italy (the rest will continue to be produced in Japan), their heritage story is even stronger. The Retro Wool Polo epitomizes this.

Made of a sturdy wool blend, the classically styled jersey is handsome enough to wear on and off the bike, though designed with performance in mind. The vintage feel is achieved through both embroidered logo design and production—decades old machinery is employed to produce a technical fabric with a smooth brushed finish. Two chest pockets and three more on the lower back offer ample storage options.
