As a small business ourselves we’re always down to support other independent operations. But that’s not the main reason we’re often hyped on Portland, Oregon-based North St. Bags. Rather, it’s their durable, purposeful designs that really does it for us. In the past their use of traditional Japanese textiles with the Kiriko collaboration caught our eye, along with the perfectly simple Davis Daypack. Today, it’s the new Weekender collection.

Comprised of five pieces—including two backpacks, a duffle, dopp kit, and packing cube of varying sizes—with largely modular designs, the collection works as individual carrying solutions or together as the ultimate travel system.

Each piece is made to order in Portland with a lightweight, American-made single layer sailcloth-like material that’s both waterproof and extremely rip resistant, water resistant zippers, sturdy webbing handles, and limited-edition blackout compass patches.

For us the real highlight is the modestly sized Meeting Bag, which seamlessly integrates into the much larger Weekender Backpack, creating a formidable carrying option for extended travel. The separate shoe compartment on the duffel is a nice touch too. And of course, we’re digging the Dopp Kit too (use it for storing tech accessories, toiletries, camera gear, other stuff).
