These days it seems almost impossible to find a backpack that’s not inspired by some vintage Swedish day pack, decades old military rucksack, or Boy Scout backpack. Every bag comes complete with multiple daisy chains, leather lash-ons, and other useless “features” for carrying even more shit than you already stuff in that oversized beast to begin with. And sure, we’re fans of select styles that fit the aforementioned description (shout out Sandqvist, Tanner Goods) but not often does something totally unconventional come around, which is why we’re particularly enamored with Timbuk2’s Heist Zip Pack RF.

The medium-sized backpack is as minimal as it comes, with a single top zipper for entry. The exterior is abrasion resistant and extremely durable waterproof 500D TPU, and features a tonal reflective print on the exterior for increased visibility. Along the padded back panel is a sneaky zipper placed discretely along a seam for stashing a small notebook, pair of sunglasses, or phone. Inside you’ll find a large main compartment with padded, soft fabric-lined sleeve for your craptop, a couple organizer pockets for pens, keys, kindle, krink, etc, and that’s about it. This sucker flies fast and light.

And the best part is, you can have it in any color you’d like, so long as it’s black.
